Step By Step Process To Update BIOS In Windows Laptops

Updating PCs is an essential and sometimes intimidating task for many users. However, with Windows computers, the process of updating BIOS is straightforward and easy to do. In this article, you will find out how to update BIOS in Windows computers in just a few simple steps!

Here are the steps for updating the BIOS on a Windows laptop:

  1. First, you’ll need to determine what type of BIOS you have and find the correct update for your specific motherboard. You can usually find this information by looking at the documentation that came with your motherboard or by looking up the make and model number on the manufacturer’s website.
  2. Next, you’ll need to download the BIOS update file from the manufacturer’s website and save it to your computer.
  3. Create a bootable USB or CD/DVD using the BIOS update file. The specific steps for creating a bootable USB or CD/DVD will vary depending on the program you use. Still, you can usually do this by opening the BIOS update file in a program like Rufus or burning the ISO file to a disc using a program like ImgBurn.
  4. Shut down your laptop and disconnect all peripherals (keyboard, mouse, etc.).
  5. Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS setup by pressing a specific key (usually Del, F2, or Esc) as the laptop is booting up. The key you must press will typically be displayed on the BIOS splash screen.
  6. Once you’re in the BIOS setup, navigate to the “Boot” tab and set the boot order so that the bootable USB or CD/DVD is first in the boot order.
  7. Save your changes and exit the BIOS setup. Your laptop should now boot from the USB or CD/DVD.
  8. Follow the prompts to install the BIOS update. The specific steps will vary depending on the BIOS update utility being used, but generally, you’ll need to select the update file and follow any on-screen instructions.
  9. Once the update is complete, restart your laptop and enter the BIOS setup again to double-check that the update was successful and to restore the original boot order.
